Would You Rather? Tag

101

I need to thank Islandgeekgirl from Overflowing Bookshelves for giving me this opportunity to partake in this amusing tag. You should all go and follow her! I promise once you see her header for blog – you would fall in love with it just like I did. Just like her, I would like to tag all of you to do this! ^-^

Here are the questions…

  • Would you rather read only trilogies or only read standalones?

Whoever created this “Would You Rather?” tag is so mean! :/ (I’m kidding, but still!) I love standalones, because when you finished –  it either gives you this tingling feelings or it’s just meh (majority of the time). But I’m going to have to go with only reading trilogies. The reason being is because I’ve started a lot of trilogies and I haven’t been able to finish them due to lack of money and the fact that my library just doesn’t have them. Hence, I finally would be able to finish the trilogies. Standalones can be read whenever! ^-^

  • Would you rather read only male or female authors?

Damn, these questions are slightly challenging. Majority of the YA & NA novels I read are written by female so I would have to go with female. But I swear this doesn’t mean I despise male authors at all! It’s just I think female gets our heartfelt wishes more so than males. For example, recently I have read a YA apocalyptic novel – We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach  and the way he writes blew my mind so please check it out!

  • Would you rather shop at Barnes and Noble or Amazon?

I desperately want Australia to have Barnes & Noble, but we don’t unfortunately. So Amazon it is!

  • Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?

Why you so hard to choose?!

Books like Pretty Little Liars should definitely be turned into TV show, and the result has been flying high hasn’t it? Almost all of my good friends are addicted to it. Then there are those like the Games of Thrones, Gossip Girl, the 100  etc are all very popular. I’m also waiting for the Mortal Instruments TV show to come out! (The movie sucked big time!)

However, there are books that are just meant to be turned into movies like The Fault In Our Stars, Harry Potter, The Host, Narnia, Gone Girl, A Walk To Remember etc. They all turned out fantastic!

So my point being is that I can’t choose, because different novels just have different feels hence I can’t pick.

  • Would you rather read only 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?

Thank you! This one is finally an easy one! Definitely 5 books per week. I don’t call myself a bibliophile for no reasons. I’m just addicted to books, but if only I have that much time to read them, and not having to go to work and school…

  • Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?

Another easy one! 😀 I would rather be a professional reviewer. I heard you say why?

Well, let’s say writing a novel has been a dream of mine for many years – 4 years precisely – since I picked up that broken laptop with only Word Document on it. However, after joining Goodreads, I realised that being a reviewer is actually so much more fun than publishing a novel. Don’t ask me why or how, because people change.  I rather be a supporter of authors, a reviewer of many authors’ novels than anything else.

Who knows? Maybe I want to be a professional author 4 years later.  😛

  • Would you rather be a librarian or bookseller?

That’s another easy one! I definitely would rather be a librarian. In fact, I would LOVE to become a librarian.

I remembered when I was twelve, I saw a librarian putting CDs and books back onto the shelves. I really wanted to helped her, but didn’t know where to begin. Like, how do I ask her if I could help her put the returned books & CDs back onto the shelves without sounding weird? I decided at the end of the day it didn’t matter, so ahead I went. Surprisingly, she let me. I was so giddy. But she only let me had the tiny trolley and that was it. Although slightly disappointed in the end, but at least I got to be librarian for 5 minutes. It was one of the best memories ever! ^-^

Though when I see her again next time, she talked to the librarian next to her about me. I knew it because they were staring at me. Being the insecure me, I felt like bursting into tears. Ever since then I just tried to avoid her every time I see her.

But that doesn’t stop me from chasing one of my dreams – to become a librarian. I think it’s worth it, though my Asian parents don’t support me, but I’m sure I can become one even in my 70s.

  • Would you rather read only your favourite genre or every other genre but your favourite?

That is a really dumb question… If it’s your favourite genre, of course you would want to read it every day! My favourite genres are YA & NA, though I would much prefer YA as some of the novels are a bit too mature and dark for me.

  • Would you rather read only ebooks or physical books?

I’m big on physical books! I love collecting and buying physical books, particularly second-hand shops novels because their histories is truly what makes books valuable. With ebooks, you can’t smell anything, so physical books it’s!

  1. Nice post! I would love for all the books I adore to be turned into TV series, more prolonged enjoyment ftw!

Librarian /bookseller would be such a dream job for us bookworms! Then again, I love my current job so I’m content with enjoying books just as a hobby.

    • Thank you! 😀 Yes, I totally get what you mean. But sometimes they altered too much of the storylines – it sucks.

I am glad you like your current job. 🙂 I like my job but my passions are books and reading, so I hope someday my career can reflect that.

      Kristy.

      • I admit to not having seen any shows that were inspired by books (aside from things like Pride and Prejudice or Sherlock Holmes, in which case I don’t mind if they take liberties). Haven’t seen any YA books turned into TV shows yet aside from the upcoming TMI, should be interesting!

I wish you best of luck with that endeavour, for now we can just geek out on the internet 🙂

  2. Wow. You surely are an avid reader. ( unlike me 😛 ) These are interesting questions to answer 😀 I love your long answers. haha. Great post! 🙂

  3. Great answers, haha. For me, I’d love to be a professional reviewer, but I’d love to be an author as well. However, I don’t think I have the writing skills to be a good author, so professional reviewer it is! And yes! 5 books per week for sure, I’d be going through my TBR much faster. So many books, so little time!

    • I totally agree with you about having skills to be a good author. Another reason is because before I started blogging, I never realised how much work people put in just to get a novel published. (I used to believe anyone with great ideas can publish novel, but reality says otherwise.) Hence it makes me respect those authors so much more, especially those who successfully marketed their novel etc. Like wow.

I agree, though my TBR is forever going because I always buy more books. I also tend to have this bad habit of buying books and not reading them, but then I will still go to the library to borrow more books? I know. It’s really bad, but I can’t help it. xD

  4. I love your personality, it really does show in your words! These questions are kind of difficult, how could they make us choose? I’d love to be a librarian too, or even a bookseller, but my parents think it’s not a suitable job! I’ve always wanted to open my own little book shop though, a girl can dream can’t she?

    • Thank you so much Athena! ❤ I just blog for me! Yes, unfortunately my parents think librarian is an “unrealistic” job, the same as bookseller – that’s Asian parents for you! 😛 Yes a girl definitely can dream! Don’t ever give up Athena! 😀 Though if I was to open my little book shop it’s going to be Shakespeare and Co Bookshop like the one at Paris. ❤.❤

      • Don’t ever give up your dreams either! Have you been to Shakespeare and Co in Paris before? I haven’t, but I wish.
